Principal's Corner

Dear Forest Hill Families,

WELCOME to the 2022-2023 School Year at Forest Hill Elementary! I am so excited to be returning to Forest Hill and serving as your new principal. I hope that you are enjoying your summer, and looking forward to the new school year as much as I am. This year promises to be full of achievement, growth, and productivity for our students. There are so many great things happening within this school. It is my prayer that we work together to grow and build up the students for success, making this the best year yet!

My vision is simple. I want to see Forest Hill get back to the basics of instruction. We have a variety of resources, but how we use them is crucial. Reading is the key to success. Integrating reading in all that we do will be a priority at Forest Hill. I believe that readers are leaders. The ability to read well can open so many doors and break down the barriers of frustration, that sometimes build up with a lack of reading ability and skill.

I want math and science instruction to be filled with hands-on learning opportunities. Children should want to come to Forest Hill each day because they cannot wait to engage, explore, and explain what new skill awaits them.

We must also work hard to address the needs of our students socially and emotionally. COVID has impacted students and adults alike. Creating a sense of pride in ourselves, as well as our school, will go a long way in building up the “Lion Pride”.

Establishing our school among new community partners, as well as reestablishing our school with current community partners, will be key to getting things done at Forest Hill. Building relationships will be essential to provide the necessary support for all of our students.

Let us get back to the basics. I look forward to an amazing year showcasing Forest Hill’s #LionPride.

Sincerely,

Nijah Ford, Principal
