Week 1 of ag class ✅ with our MGM Academy of Agribusiness. We’ve already hit the ground running, and if this is any sign of the year ahead… it’s going to be a good one. 🌱🚜💛 Here’s to learning, growing, and a whole lot of fun in 2025! #ageducation #FFA #SemmesFFA #semmes #VikingHorticulture #perseverencepropelsprogress

Mrs. Peoples-Williams Physics class engaged in a Paper Air Plane Lab where they practiced the engineering and design process. Students measured the speed of their planes by figuring out their distance vs time. #Skol #VikingVALOR

Mrs. Easterling’s students took on a hands-on challenge called “Soft Skills & AI – Building Together” to see just how important soft skills are in the workplace — with or without artificial intelligence!
Students were given unique “roles” ranging from Open Communicator to Conflict Creator, Dependable & Reliable to Not Willing to Adapt. They then worked in two “companies”:
🏭 Company A used AI-powered robots to help with production.
🏭 Company B relied solely on live employees.
The goal? Fill customer orders as quickly as possible while navigating different personalities, communication styles, and work habits.
After the simulation, we debriefed to talk about:
✅ How teamwork, communication, and adaptability can make or break a project
✅ The real-world impact of soft skills in any job
✅ How AI changes — but doesn’t replace — the need for people skills
💡 Our takeaway? Technology can speed things up, but soft skills are the real power tools in the workplace!

Congratulations to Alayah Jones. Alayah was chosen as only 1 of 12 students to participate in the SouthWest Mobile County Chamber of Commerce and T.A.L.L. Program to represent MGM. This program brings together students who have demonstrated strong leadership potential and outstanding character. Its mission is to empower students by providing a series of issue-orientated forums rooted in the belief that knowledge is the key element and prime motivator of leadership. Congratulations Alayah on your accomplishment. #Skol #VikingVALOR 🖤🩵

A huge thank you to the City of Semmes council members for their generous support of MGM Career Academies! Thanks to their donation, we were able to purchase eight new wall banners that highlight our Career Academies . These banners are a great way for students, staff, and visitors to see the amazing opportunities available. We are so grateful for the continued support from our community! #VikingVALOR #Skol

🎉🎉🎉🎉Whew!! The first day of the 25-26 school year is in the books! Together, we can make tomorrow even better. Thank you to the parents, students, and staff for making today run so smoothly. As we think about tomorrow, please remember that drop-off and pick up may take longer than usual the first few days.
🚙🚗When you pick up your students in the co-op lot, please park in a spot. We do not have room to make a line around the lot. If you park, we can ensure everyone is able to exit quickly and safely! #perseverancepropelsprogress

New Teacher Spotlight!

Welcome back!! We are so excited to see everyone on Monday morning for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. We have a few reminders to help make tomorrow a successful day!
- Clear bookbags will be distributed during ADVISORY.
- Check Schoology/PowerSchool for ADVISORY teacher to know where to go (Lists will also be posted around campus)
- Doors will open at 6:50 am for students to find their ADVISORY classroom
- If you need help finding your classes throughout the day, look for our Lifeguards in their bright colored shirts, teachers, or administrators. We are all here for you.
- Let's make lunch go smoothly. Please bring your old school ID (middle school ID will also work). Otherwise, you will have to enter your student number or name.
- If you will ride the bus in the afternoon, please know the driver's name or the bus number so we can help you get on the right bus
- PLEASE BE PATIENT!!! The first week of school is when we see the largest number of students being dropped off. Plan accordingly, leave a little earlier, and be prepared for it to take longer than usual.
- There are no drop-offs allowed behind campus. The majority of our students park back there, and to limit the possibility of accidents, drop off is only permitted near the art building (the standalone building in front of campus) or in the Co-Op parking lot near the gym and auditorium.

We are so excited to see the number of seniors participating in painting their spots this year! Remember, the only places you may paint are the senior lot near baseball and softball or the co-op lot near the gym and auditorium.
